College Football Week 8: Top performers of the week
By Brad Weiss

Welcome back Mr. Fournette. The star running back from LSU made sure people remember who is the best back in America on Saturday, as he ran all over the Ole Miss Rebels. The Tigers have been wildly inconsistent without Fournette in the lineup, but he showed LSU fans what they have been missing in arguably the most dominant effort in school history. Fournette rushed for an incredible 284 yards on only 16 carries, scoring three times in an LSU 38-21 victory.
Fournette had not been in action since Sept. 24, when he aggravated a bone bruise in his ankle. He showed the kind of talent on Saturday night that is certain to make him a first round pick in next April’s draft. He ran with speed and power, which was on full display when he ran over Rebels defensive back Deontay Anderson in the first quarter. Incredibly, his performance just may vault him back into the Heisman Trophy race.

It was a record-setting night for Fournette, who broke Alley Broussard’s single-game record of 250 yards. It did not take Fournette long to break the record either, as he set a new mark on just eight carries. He finished with a 17.8 yards per carry average in the game. His three touchdowns went for at least 59 yards, including two for 78 yards or more.
