The New Orleans Saints will host the Seattle Seahawks for a Sunday afternoon kickoff in Week 8. Here is a game preview, the betting odds, and a prediction.

In one of the early afternoon games on Sunday afternoon, the New Orleans Saints will host the Seattle Seahawks on October 30. Kickoff from the Mercedes-Benz Superdome will be at 1:00 PM ET. FOX will have the telecast.

The Seahawks enter play at 4-1-1 after an awkward tie against their NFC West rival Arizona Cardinals on Sunday Night Football in Week 7. Arizona should have won that game in Glendale, but the Seahawks managed to find a way to stay in that ball game. Again, Seattle is led by its elite defense. However, its offense is starting to look worrisome with a hobbled Russell Wilson at quarterback.

New Orleans is 2-4 after losing on the road in Week 7 to the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead. The Saints can put up the points on offense, but will they ever have a secondary that won’t leak like a sieve? New Orleans needs a win on Sunday over Seattle to stay alive in the NFC South race with the Atlanta Falcons and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Odds

Point Spread: New Orleans +3

Money line: Seattle -167, New Orleans +144

Over/Under: 47.5

According to OddsShark.com, the Saints are getting three points at home to the road favorite Seahawks. The associated money lines are Seattle -167 and New Orleans +144. This game’s over/under comes in at a combined 47.5 points.

Here are some trends to keep in mind with the Seahawks: 1.) Seattle is 11-3-1 straight up in its last 15 games. 2.) The Seahawks have gone under in eight of their last 12 games. 3.) They are 7-2-1 straight up in their last 10 road games. 4.) Seattle has gone under in five of its last seven road games.

Here are the trends to know about the Saints: 1.) The Saints are 4-1 against the spread in their last five games. 2.) They are 2-4 straight up in their last seven games. 3.) New Orleans has gone over in four of its last six games. 4.) The Saints are 5-10-1 against the spread in their last 16 home games. 5.) They are 2-5 straight up in their last seven home games.

This is not an easy game to forecast. Both teams have been good about covering the spread in recent weeks. However, the Saints usually go over with their air assault offense, while the Seahawks are usually under with their Legion of Boom defense. The Saints getting points at home and the under might be the parlay in this one.

The Saints’ passing game rivals the Falcons, whom the Seahawks gave up yards to in Week 6’s home victory. New Orleans can’t stop anybody defensively, but Seattle loves to punt on offense. Seattle is the better all-around team and should win, but the Saints cover.

Pick: Seahawks 24, Saints 23
