Maurice Harkless, for some reason, thought he had an easy layup here but Blake Griffin emphatically said NO!

When you’re playing the LA Clippers and you have the ball, one thing that you should always do is check to make sure Blake Griffin is not lurking around. In addition to wowing us all with dunks that appear as though they’re gonna tear down the rim, he’s pretty good at blocking some shots as well.

Thursday night, this is something Maurice Harkless of the Portland Trail Blazers did not remember and he paid the price for it.

With the second quarter winding down in this one Thursday night, Harkless came with possession of the ball and in his mind he believed that he had one of the easiest layups that he’d have all night. Well, he was wrong.

As if that wasn’t amazing enough to watch, here’s a closer look at what took place here.

First off, can you believe how high Griffin got up there? Yeah, he’s a big dude and all, but jeepers that was incredible to watch, especially from the angle directly above. With someone who can jump that high, yeah, chances are your layup attempt isn’t dropping — sorry.

Then, of course, Harkless has to know that Griffin is in the vicinity and there’s a pretty good chance that something like this is gonna happen. This was timed perfectly by Blake and Harkless should have maybe at least tried to get a little closer to the rim to try and draw the foul.

Actually, no, he should not listen to me. That’s a horrible idea because then there’s the possibility that his head would have substituted for the basketball.

So yeah, Blake was winning this battle no matter what.
