2. Case Keenum did his job

Case Keenum was never going to be the answer for the Rams if they truly wanted to start being a playoff contender. He was originally there as a backup and did well when called up. This season, however, he was given the starting job but only because the Rams wanted to buy more time for Jared Goff. Goff was taken first overall…he is the quarterback for L.A.

All through training camp and now about half-way through the season, Keenum has bought the coaching staff time.

Keenum is not the type of quarterback to be the reason that the Rams win. But if they want to compete, he can’t be the reason they lose, either. He’s had arguably only one strong performance in week 6 against an awful Detroit Lions defense but other than that, he’s been the worst quarterback in the league. He has the lowest Total QBR in the NFL, second most interceptions (10),  and is completing 62 percent of his passes.

Case Keenum has handled this situation as a professional should. He doesn’t shy away from media despite all the questions being about Jared Goff looming in the background. And he always makes statements based on team success and what is best for the team and not himself. However, what is best for the team may very well be No. 16.

The Rams are 3-4 and are not going anywhere with Keenum. And they may not go anywhere this season with Goff starting. But it is time to let the 22-year old take over.
