Florida State star running back Dalvin Cook torched the Clemson defense for a huge touchdown in both yardage and importance

Dalvin Cook has been the star for the Florida State Seminoles for the past two seasons. Whether last year or this season, it always feels like it’s the running back making the most crucial plays in big games. So on Saturday night in their primetime matchup with the Clemson Tigers, you had to expect Cook was just waiting for his opportunity to strike in the second half.

With the Seminoles trailing the No. 3 ranked Tigers coming out of the half, Cook already had one touchdown to his credit. However, that one score wasn’t enough to make up all of the ground Florida State needed. Subsequently, Dalvin Cook decided to deliver a score that would accomplish just that.

Deondre Francois handed off Cook and bounced out to the right side on the counter play. The junior then cut upfield around a slew of Clemson defenders and turned on the burst that’s going to make him a problem at the next level. He shed off one tackler before going off to the races for six points—and a massively crucial six points at that:

Tackling that man seems downright impossible sometimes. When he can hit the edge like that and then breakaway even faster, good luck dealing with that in college or in the NFL.

After the extra point, the Seminoles took the 21-20 lead at home and looked to capitalize on second half momentum. Though that 43-yard score only gave Cook 83 yards for the night (on 13 carries), you’d have to imagine that the junior running back might have a little more magic in the tank to help FSU pull off the upset.
