Here’s how you can watch Saturday afternoon’s Illinois vs Minnesota game from Champaign online.
Minnesota is coming off a far-too-close contest against Big Ten bottom-dweller Rutgers at home last week and the Golden Gophers need to bounce back. The Golden Gophers are 5-2 and are technically still in the hunt for the conference title.
Mitch Leidner has thrown just one touchdown pass since Sept. 10 and it’s time for the senior gunslinger to turn things around. He has completed 58 percent of his passes for 1,162 yards with five touchdowns and five picks. Drew Wolitarsky has been his top target, catching 37 passes for 450 yards and three scores.
Rodney Smith and Shannon Brooks have been the workhorses in the backfield. Smith leads the team with 701 yards and eight touchdowns while Brooks has 413 yards and four scores.
Illinois, on the other hand, has been struggling all season long in Lovie Smith’s first year. The Fighting Illini are just 2-5 on the year and they have shown very little sign of life through seven games.
Down two quarterbacks, Wes Lunt and Chayce Crouch, the Fighting Illini will be forced to start freshman quarterback Jeff George Jr. for the second straight game. He completed just 4-of-15 passes for 95 yards and a touchdown with a pick in his first game last week.
Malik Turner might be his only hope to succeed as the team’s top receiver. He caught 33 passes for 513 yards and four touchdowns. The Illini also have three rushers who have accumulated over 250 rushing yards this season.
