Michigan State fans are keeping the rivalry alive, loudly chanting obscenities at Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh
There has never been a great deal of love between the Michigan State Spartans and Michigan Wolverines. That’s the spirit of a rivalry, of course. However, the Wolverines hiring khaki-clad head coach Jim Harbaugh has only intensified the rivalry between these two schools. Harbaugh has long been a polarizing figure with the innate ability to ruffle feathers. Judging by the reaction of Sparty fans in East Lansing on Saturday, I’d say their feathers are all disheveled.
Michigan State, in fairness, started out competitive against their No. 2-ranked rivals. However, the Wolverines started to pull away with characteristic dominance on both sides of the ball. This apparently displeased the Spartans fans. So they decided to take out their ire on the Michigan head coach by chanting obscenities (in unison).
In fact, the Spartans fans at their home stadium were chanting “F*** Jim Harbaugh” so loudly that the ESPN cameras picked it up (H/T SB Nation). Sorry, FCC (Obvious warning for strong language in the below video):
Tell us how you really feel, Sparty.
Probably the best part about this, though, is the fact that Jim Harbaugh is likely completely unfazed by this. As great and successful of a college football coach as he is, he has no problem playing the role of the villain. That said, his willingness to occupy that role makes him the hero in the eyes of some (many of those people in the Ann Arbor area).

Michigan went into halftime up 27-10 over their rivals and looking firmly in control. They clearly are the superior team in the 2016 chapter of this matchup. However, that probably doesn’t change the feelings of the home fans. In fact, it seemingly just makes that feeling stronger.
