NFL Fantasy Football: Week 8 injury report
By Dan Thomas
We are supplying information on the latest and most important injuries across the NFL and letting you know how it could affect your fantasy football team.
Quarterbacks
Browns QB Cody Kessler is listed as out.
The Spin: With Kessler out Josh McCown will get the start. McCown is the better quarterback and his presence is an upgrade to players like Terrelle Pryor and Gary Barnidge.
Seahawks QB Russell Wilson isn’t on the injury report.
The Spin: Even though Wilson isn’t on the injury report it’s still worth mentioning his status because he isn’t 100%. Truth be told, he probably won’t be 100% healthy until 2017. He does get a great matchup this week against the Saints but there’s still plenty of question marks about his play due to the injuries.
Running Backs
Redskins RB Matt Jones is listed as out.
The Spin: With Jones out, Chris Thompson and Rob Kelley will split the carries. Thompson has the higher floor and is the better play in PPR leagues. With that said, Kelley should get around 12 touches in a good matchup and is the projected goal line running back.
Packers RB/WR Ty Montgomery is listed as questionable.
The Spin: He isn’t dealing with an injury but instead he’s dealing with an illness. He should be good to go for Sunday.
Falcons RB Tevin Coleman is listed as out.
The Spin: With Coleman out, Devonta Freeman should be a workhorse.
Bills RB LeSean McCoy is listed as doubtful.
The Spin: It’s almost a certain McCoy won’t suit up on Sunday. With McCoy out Mike Gillislee should see a majority of the touches in the Bills backfield.
Bills RB Mike Gillislee is listed as questionable.
The Spin: Although he is listed as questionable he is fully expected to play. In theory, he should see close to 20 touches in this game.
Texans RB Lamar Miller is listed as questionable.
The Spin: Miller was in and out of last week’s game with a shoulder injury. He should play on Sunday but he might not get his usual 20+ touches.
Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles is listed as out.
The Spin: I wouldn’t be surprised if Charles ends up on IR at some point before the season is over. It’s going to be the Spencer Ware show once again this Sunday.
Buccaneers RB Doug Martin is listed as out.
The Spin: Jacquizz Rodgers will get the start and will be a workhorse.
Broncos RB C.J. Anderson is listed as out.
The Spin: Anderson may not be available for the rest of the fantasy year so it’s going to be the Devontae Booker show from here on out.
Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon did not practice on Friday.
The Spin: With the Vikings playing on Monday Night Football, they’ve yet to issue a game status for him. However, he’s trending towards not playing which could put Matt Asiata on track for 20+ touches.
Wide Receivers
Redskins WR Desean Jackson is listed as questionable.
The Spin: There’s very little reason to believe Jackson won’t play on Sunday in London.
Redskins WR Jamison Crowder is listed as questionable.
The Spin: Just like with D-Jax, Crowder should suit up despite being listed as questionable.
Packers WR Randall Cobb is listed as questionable.
The Spin: Cobb is more likely to play than not but it also wouldn’t be a surprise if he misses this game. He plays at 4:25 EST so owners need to have a Plan B ready just incase he’s inactive.
Patriots WR Julian Edelman is listed as questionable.
The Spin: He’s playing.
Bills WR Robert Woods is listed as questionable.
The Spin: He should be playing against the Patriots but he’s merely a WR3/4.
Colts WR Donte Moncrief is listed as questionable.
The Spin: After missing the last five games Moncrief should make his return to the Colts starting lineup on Sunday.
Seahawks WR Tyler Lockett is listed as questionable.
The Spin: Lockett will play but he’s been a disappoint all season long. However, he makes for a cheap DFS punt-play against a very burnable Saints secondary.
Chargers WR Tyrell Williams is listed as questionable.
The Spin: He’s a good bet to play but that doesn’t mean you should be playing him against Denver.
Chargers WR Travis Benjamin is listed as questionable.
The Spin: Just like with Williams, Benjamin should suit up but he’s not a good play against Denver’s defense.
Cardinals WR John Brown is listed as questionable.
The Spin: Brown is more likely to play than not and is a boom-or-bust WR3.
Cardinals WR Michael Floyd is listed as questionable.
The Spin: Even if he does play, Floyd can’t be trusted in lineups.
Cowboys WR Dez Bryant is listed as questionable.
The Spin: Bryant is playing on Sunday Night Football and with his talents, there’s no reason to wait a week before plugging him back into lineups.
Tight Ends
Redskins TE Jordan Reed is listed as questionable.
The Spin: After missing the last two games with a concussion, Reed should be playing in London. This makes Vernon Davis pretty useless for fantasy concerns.
Patriots TE Martellus Bennett is questionable to play.
The Spin: The Patriots usually list their entire roster as questionable but this one is legitimate. Bennett could miss this game and owners need a backup plan just in case he does.
Bills TE Charles Clay is listed as questionable.
The Spin: Clay will be playing against the Patriots but he’s really hard to trust outside of really deep leagues.
Lions TE Eric Ebron is listed as questionable.
The Spin: After missing the last three games Ebron is expected to return against the Texans. It’s hard to trust Ebron in starting lineups but then again, so are the majority of tight ends in fantasy this year.
Colts TE Dwayne Allen listed as out.
The Spin: Jack Doyle will get the start for the second straight week and is capable TE1.
Chargers TE Hunter Henry is listed as questionable.
The Spin: Hunter is on track to play but will have a hard time catching the Broncos by surprise like last time (6/83/1).
Cowboys TE Jason Witten is listed as questionable.
The Spin: He’s playing but that doesn’t mean the 34-year old is worth playing in lineups.
DFS Nuggets
Redskins RB Chris Thompson makes for an interesting and cheap play with Matt Jones out. Consider him in DraftKings where you get a full point per reception.

Matt Asiata should see all the goal line work along with third down duties if Jerick McKinnon misses Monday Night Football. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see him finish with around 15 carries and 5 receptions.
Brandon LaFell has a touchdown reception in three straight games. If the Redskins want to use Josh Norman to shadow A.J. Green, it could open things up for LaFell.
Every quarterback that has played against the Browns this season has thrown for multiple touchdown passes. Four out of the last five have thrown for three touchdowns. With Geno Smith out for the rest of the year, Ryan Fitzpatrick is a cheap option who could pay big dividends.
