The No. 10 West Virginia Mountaineers lost in Stillwater on Saturday by the Oklahoma State Cowboys, 37-20. How could this impact the AP Top 10 in Week 10?

The No. 10 West Virginia Mountaineers suffered their first loss of the season in Week 9. West Virginia fell to the Oklahoma State Cowboys in Stillwater, 37-20. The Mountaineers will absolutely fall out of the Top 10 of the AP Top 25 entering Week 10.

Assuming no more upsets the rest of the way on Saturday, here is what the Top 10 of the AP Top 25 in Week 10 could look like after the West Virginia loss to Oklahoma State.

  1. Alabama Crimson Tide
  2. Michigan Wolverines
  3. Clemson Tigers
  4. Washington Huskies
  5. Louisville Cardinals
  6. Ohio State Buckeyes
  7. Baylor Bears
  8. Texas A&M Aggies
  9. Wisconsin Badgers
  10. Nebraska Cornhuskers

Alabama would retain No. 1 at 8-0 on their bye week before the Crimson Tide’s huge rivalry game in Week 10 against the LSU Tigers. Michigan threatens Alabama for the top spot in the country after beating the in-state rival Michigan State Spartans handedly. The Wolverines stay at No. 2.

Assuming Clemson knocks off the rival No. 12 Florida State Seminoles, the Tigers would keep their No. 3 ranking for at least another week. Washington could jump Clemson if the Huskies clobber the No. 17 Utah Utes in Salt Lake City. However, there’s nothing wrong with being No. 4 for another week, as clearly the best team in the Pac-12.

Despite struggling on the road in Charlottesville against the Virginia Cavaliers, the No. 5 Louisville Cardinals will retain their No. 5 spot in the AP Top 25 with their Week 9 victory.

Ohio State should be able to beat the Northwestern Wildcats in Columbus this afternoon and would stay at No. 6 as one of the best one-loss teams in the country. Coming in at No. 7 would be undefeated Baylor, assuming the Bears knock off a reeling in-state rival in the Texas Longhorns in Austin.

Texas A&M can cakewalk over the New Mexico State Aggies to the No. 8 ranking is this upcoming AP Top 25 Poll. Wisconsin is laying 7.5 points at home to No. 7 Nebraska. The Badgers would get to No. 9 by beating the Cornhuskers at Camp Randall, as the nation’s best two-loss team.

Nebraska would drop from No. 7 to No. 10 with a projected road loss to Wisconsin. The Cornhuskers would get the benefit of the doubt over teams like West Virginia, the Boise State Broncos, the Florida Gators, and the Auburn Tigers to stay in the AP Top 10.
