Utah Utes quarterback Troy Williams ties the game up at 24 with a 24-yard touchdown pass to Evan Moeai late in their game against the Washington Huskies.

This game between the No. 4 Washington Huskies and the No. 17 Utah Utes had the makings as one of the best games of the 2016 college football season. Washington entered play at a perfect 7-0 on the year. Utah was 7-1 with only one loss to the California Golden Bears on the season.

Down 24-17 late at home against the Huskies, Utes quarterback Troy Williams is able to throw a dime to Evan Moeai to tie the game up at 24 points apiece after the “Automatic” Andy Phillips PAT.

Entering Saturday, Utah and Washington were easily the two best teams in the Pac-12 in 2016. Washington has a sizable lead in the Pac-12 North, while Utah is holding off teams like the Colorado Buffaloes and the Arizona State Sun Devils in the Pac-12 South.

Should Utah be able to pull off this home upset of the Huskies, the Utes might creep closer to the Top 10 of the AP Top 25. They entered the game at No. 17. Utah may not get there by Week 10, but the Utes have the look of a potential College Football Playoff team if they shock the Huskies.

For Washington, the Huskies are still in good shape to play in the 2016 Pac-12 Championship Game. The Huskies can still make it to the College Football Playoff with one-loss, but will need to beat presumably Utah in neutral-site Santa Clara in early December.

Washington has a Heisman hopeful in Jake Browning at quarterback. However, it was Williams that has been giving the Utes the chance at a signature win on the season. This game is living up to all its high expectations in Salt Lake City.
