Vincent Janssen has scored his first Premier League goal for Tottenham from the penalty spot to give Spurs a 1-0 lead over Leicester at White Hart Lane.
VIncent Janssen was bear tackled by Robert Huth in the 44th minute, which offered the Dutch striker a glorious opportunity to open his Spurs Premier League account from the spot. He stepped up confidently and drilled it home to break the deadlock. It was Janssen’s third goal in all competitions, all of which have come from the penalty spot.
Spurs signed Janssen for £18.5 million from AZ Alkmaar in the offseason. The move has yet to fully pay dividends for Tottenham but it should only be a matter of time before the Dutch striker adapts to the Premier League and shows Spurs’ faithful exactly what he is capable of.
Tottenham are the only unbeaten team in the Premier League and hope to keep that record intact after today’s match. Spurs, with 54 points during 2016, are the only team to earn more Premier League points than Leicester, who have accumulated 53 points in the calendar year.
Claudio Ranieri has never lost a match to Spurs, winning seven and drawing three. Spurs have yet to concede a goal in open play this season and, allowing only four goals, boast the league’s most stingy defense.

Tottenham look to go unbeaten in their first 10 league games for the first time since the 1990-91 campaign. With a victory, Spurs, depending on other results, could potentially climb up to second in the table. They have 19 points from 9 matches and are currently behind league leader’s Arsenal by four points after the Gunners dismantled Sunderland 4-1 earlier in the day.
Leicester have struggled a little the season after their historic title. They’ve failed to win every match immediately preceding a Champions League game this season. If they end up losing to Spurs that streak will extend to four games.
