How did the coaches on our hot seat watch fare in Week 9 of college football?
There are going to be a lot of coaches that are on the college football hot seat get let go soon. Surprise firings are also going to happen and it will shake up the NCAA. In Week 9, there were plenty of coaches that needed a win and five that we had on our list.
Well the coaches and their teams certainly did their part this week, as all five coaches on our hot seat list went out and got a victory. With these teams needing to make bowl games or finish strong, it was important that they got a win. Let’s look at how each did.
Kliff Kingsbury
Kingsbury isn’t in real danger of losing his job, but he needed the Texas Tech Red Raiders to actually play a little defense and get a big win. They got that on Saturday, as they defeated TCU on the road.
Steve Addazio
The man that can never win in the ACC finally got a big win on Saturday. The Boston College Eagles helped Steve Addazio out by grinding out a tough win at North Carolina State. He needs to win at least two more.
Mark Helfrich
After losing five games in a row, Mark Helfrich and the Oregon Ducks took advantage of an ASU team missing 10 starters and starting a young quarterback. They have stopped the bleeding for a little bit, but need to make a bowl game.
Brian Kelly
Just when it looked like Notre Dame was going to blow a big lead against Miami, they made a field goal for the win. It wasn’t pretty, but Brian Kelly needs wins and he was able to get one this week.
Charlie Strong
A lot of people are writing off Charlie Strong, but his team does not quit. With the upset win over Baylor, the Longhorns have beaten two top-10 teams this season. With a young team, that goes a long way for the future.
