Four undefeated teams lost in Week 9 to shake up the college football rankings as the FanSided Top 25 undergoes some big changes.

We’re just a few days away from the first college football playoff rankings from coming out and college football is starting to get weird, very weird.

This past week we saw an entire conference take itself out of the playoff race while other conferences positioned themselves to make things much more complicated here in the next few weeks. While nothing has been settled just yet, we’re nearing November and the rankings always remember what you do in November.Ā

USC joins a few teams on this list that really benefited from not seeing the field this week. Teams like Navy, Utah, Tennessee all suffered major losses so the bottom half of last week’s rankings look like a pile of rubble. Emerging from that is a USC squad who seems to have found new life with QB Sam Darnold and they looked good in a 45-24 win over Cal this past Thursday night in Berkley notching their 4th win in a row.

Up next is a trip to Oregon, I’m not sure even Autzen Stadium can give USC issues this season.

Saturday was a ā€œwhat could’ve beenā€ for Florida State. If they beat Clemson, they actually have a legit argument of going near the top 10-15 of this week’s rankings. Instead, the Seminoles are sitting at No.24 this week. Everything seemed to be going well for the Noles as they neared their potential game winning drive then the offensive line broke down in the most dramatic way. A combination of sacks and false starts put FSU in an uncomfortable position as the Noles now have to just hope for an at-large bid into the New Year’s Six. Even that might be done as well.
