They were off this past week but North Carolina rises in the FanSided 25 this week. Like Penn State, the Tar Heels are bowl eligible and they’ve got a schedule that’s rather friendly with rivals Duke and North Carolina State in down seasons. North Carolina will need some help as they’re still behind Virginia Tech in the ACC Coastal standings. One loss by Va. Tech and it could be North Carolina facing Clemson in the ACC Title Game. Even if the Heels can’t make it to the ACC Title Game, 2016 has been a very good year for the Heels.

Boise State had it all setup.

Win out and you’re headed to a New Year’s Six bowl, instead, the Broncos might’ve just spoiled their own hopes with a loss at Wyoming on Saturday. Like a few other teams in this week’s rankings, Boise State had a very small margin for error and one loss would likely kill their NY6 bid as “group of five” team. Now, that along with the small Heisman hopes of Brett Rypien are now washed away for good. Boise State now has to hope for Western Michigan to lose to even have a chance.
