DeMarcus Cousins fined $25K for throwing mouthpiece and entering stands

A season ago, DeMarcus Cousins led the association in technical fouls. The Kings superstar received his first technical foul of the new season over the weekend and it came with consequences.
As a leader, maintaining your composure is a major factor, and with DeMarcus Cousins frequently getting called for technical fouls, that’s a poor sign. Over the weekend against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Cousins received his first technical foul of the season. For his little tantrum, he was fined a substantial amount of money.
To Cousins defense, instead of making matters worse, he took the technical foul in stride.

The Sacramento Kings are one of the worst franchises in sports history. This organization hasn’t seen postseason play in 10 years and it’s not for a lack of talent. Over the years, the Kings have inserted a plethora of talent, led by Cousins.
Throughout the seven-year career of Cousins, he’s averaging 20.2 points, 10.8 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game. Unfortunately, Cousins numbers haven’t resulted in team success. When talking in NBA circles, it’s always been one of the greatest mysteries as to why Sacramento hasn’t been better.
Well, first of all, you must consider the conference they’re in. For several years now, the Western Conference has clearly been the best and deepest conference in the NBA. With the season being 82 games, if you’re one of those teams competing for the eighth seed, you can’t afford to take days off.

Secondly, there’s been zero stability within the organization. As mentioned before, Cousins is in his seventh season and he’s already experienced six different head coaches. That’s nearly a new coach per year. When you’re changing coaches like you change clothes, it’s simply impossible to build something special from the ground up because you’re constantly changing the heart of the team.
Lastly, we still haven’t seen Cousins become a leader. Yes, there’s no questioning his raw ability on the court. He can score from anywhere on the court, he’s capable of handling the ball and he’s an underrated rebounder — but is he someone teammates can look up to?
