Jason Kipnis pulls Indians closer with home run (Video)
Cleveland Indians second baseman Jason Kipnis pulled his team just a little bit closer with a home run in the fifth inning on Tuesday night.
The Cleveland Indians don’t have any quit in them. After the Chicago Cubs took a commanding seven-run lead in Game 6 of the World Series on Tuesday night, the Indians started to get the bats going a little bit. After scratching one run across earlier in the night, the Indians would get another in the fifth inning, courtesy of Jason Kipnis.
As Jake Arrieta delivered the pitch to the Chicago native, Kipnis hit one opposite field to left, as he pulled his team closer. For the Indians, it was a needed run with plenty of time still left in the game to make things interesting.
While seven-run leads in the World Series are virtually impossible to come back from, scratching two runs in fairly early makes it possible. Kipnis has been getting big hits for the Indians the entire series and while his team still trailed by a decent amount, it was a big hit.
It’s never over until it’s over in the World Series. Kipnis carried that mentality with him to plate and got his team on the board.
