Everyone is freaking out about free tacos on Wednesday because of the World Series … but why?

The World Series is a wonderful thing. Tacos are also a wonderful thing. Very rarely do these two entities come together, but on Wednesday, Nov. 2, they will and it’s a beautiful thing that we have in our lives this year.

On Wednesday, you can walk into Taco Bell and feed your need with a taco that you don’t have to pay for, something that everyone loves to take advantage of. At participating locations from 2 p.m. ET to 6 p.m. ET, because of this year’s World Series between the Chicago Cubs and Cleveland Indians, you’ll be able to enjoy a delicious Doritos Locos Taco completely free of charge.

However, even though it might be the last thing on your mind because really all that matters here is “free taco,” you still might be asking yourself why this is happening.

Well, every year when the World Series rolls around, Taco Bell offers up a promotion called “Steal a Base, Steal a Taco.” With this promotion, if anyone steals a base in Game 1 or Game 2 of the World Series, then on a certain date between a certain timeframe, you will get a free taco.

This season, none other than Cleveland Indians star Francisco Lindor was there to help us all out. Right off the bat in Game 1 of this exciting series, Lindor stole second base, gifting us with tacos in the process. It was an act of kindness that will never be forgotten and we will forever be indebted to Lindor for this service here.

Oh yeah, and that stolen base also helped the Indians to the win in Game 1 of the World Series, but whatever, that’s not as important as tacos. Still pretty cool, though.

So on Wednesday, be sure to get out there and get your free taco, courtesy of Taco Bell and Francisco Lindor.
