World Series: Who is pitching Game 7 for the Indians?
By Greg Patuto
The Cubs and Indians face off in Cleveland in Game 7 of the World Series. So, who do the Indians send out on the mound to try and end the 68-year drought?
On Saturday, the Indians beat the Cubs at Wrigley Field to take a 3-1 lead in this World Series. Here we are on Wednesday and it’s all tied up at 3-3 with Game 7 just hours away. The Indians are trying to end a 68-year drought without a championship and the Cubs are looking to end a 108-year drought and it all comes down to tonight.
The game will take place in Cleveland at Progressive Field and the Indians will send their ace Corey Kluber to the mound.
Kluber finished the season with a record of 18-9 and a 3.14 ERA. He has continued his success throughout the postseason. He has an ERA of 0.89 this postseason and has not allowed a run at home. The Indians feel confident when he takes the mound, they have only lost one game he started this entire postseason.
In a winner-take-all game, who better to give the ball to then your Cy Young award winning ace? Kluber won the Cy Young award in 2014 where he finished 18-9 with a 2.44 ERA and 269 strikeouts. He uses his change of speed and movement to keep hitters off balance and against a Cubs’ team that is starting to heat up, that’s what he has to do to win this game.
