As if Game 7 of the World Series couldn’t get any better, it went into extra innings. But a rain delay threw a wrench in everyone’s plans.

When people said “I don’t want this World Series to end”, I don’t think this is what they had in mind. Game 7 of the World Series looked like it would be a coronation for the Chicago Cubs. They were four outs away from completing a comeback from 3-1, and making the city of Cleveland look stupid after spending their whole summer making 3-1 lead jokes.

But when Rajai Davis hit a game-tying home run in the eighth inning, it turned into one of the most exciting championship games in recent memory. Certainly there was no better way for a World Series between the teams with the longest championship droughts to end than in extras. But when the skies opened up, everyone on Twitter went into a frenzy.

It was already well past midnight in Cleveland when extra innings was about to start, and it looked like the delay was going to last a while. Thankfully, it only lasted for about 15 minutes as the two teams were ready to get back out there.

One fan tweeted “the world will end” when the Indians and Cubs are tied in extra innings in the 2016 World Series. It looked like he would be right when the skies opened up at the most inopportune time. But this series has been so riveting that these two could play 20 innings and everyone will stay up for it.
