Cast of Hamilton sings “Go Cubs, Go” on stage in Chicago

The Chicago Cubs are the 2016 World Series winners and it seems like everyone is on their side. Between parades, celebrity tweets, and even songs on stage the Cubs gave everyone a reason to celebrate.

The Chicago Cubs won their first championship since 1908 after going to extra innings in arguably the best World Series Game 7 ever. Now, fans everywhere are celebrating and rejoicing that the championship drought and the curse of the Billy Goat is finally over. As free agency begins and most teams begin their offseason strategies, the Cubs are taking this day to cherish what they have with the people that love them.

The Cubs and their fans are all celebrating on Friday while the city of Chicago is basically shut down for the championship parade. While the parade goes on, Theo Epstein can be found sporting a bear costume, fans can be found doing trust falls off of statutes downtown, and the song “Go Cubs Go” can be heard throughout the city.

“Go Cubs Go” has been sang and shouted through the streets so much, that it is even making into Chicago’s theaters. On Thursday, the cast of Hamilton celebrated the Cubs championship as well as their own performance by capping the night off with a performance of “Go Cubs Go.”

The New York cast used the curtain call as an opportunity to honor baseball’s best. The highlight of the song was a solo by Joshua Henry, who plays Aaron Burr in the show. He added his own twist to the lyric: “Baseball time is here again / You could watch it all on WGN.”

As the cast continued their song and dance, Miguel Cervantes, who plays the title role, could be seen holding a “W” flag symbolizing Chicago’s win. Every time the Cubs win fans and reporters will either say or write “Fly the W” to cap off a victory. And what better way to cap off a victory performance by the cast of Hamilton than to go out with “Go Cubs Go.”
