Kevin Durant’s made three-pointer after Stephen Curry’s behind-the-back pass is proof that the Golden State Warriors are the NBA version of the Harlem Globetrotters.

The Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Golden State Warriors game is starting to resemble Ivan Drago vs. Apollo Creed.

With Rusell Westbrook’s incredibly hot start to the season, and with him being incredibly mad over Kevin Durant leaving, everyone expected him to go off for 50 points in their first meeting against the Warriors. Instead, it’s KD who’s rolling with 29 points in just the first half.

KD is proving how well he’s fitting in with the Splash Brothers. He’s 11-for-17 on field goal attempts and 6-for-8 on three-pointers at the break. Contrast that with Westbrook, who’s 3-for-12 and only has 12 points.

But the Warriors’ best points had to come on this beautiful play with Steph Curry and Durant, which put them up by 17:

Some might make fun of Curry for going from the best player on Golden State to Kevin Durant’s helper. With only 13 points on 3-of-9 shooting, he’s been pretty cold. But as long as Durant is making his shots, he and the fans won’t care.

That was such an incredible Harlem Globetrotters style play. The Warriors wowed everyone last year with their aesthetically pleasing basketball, but those fans soon turned into detractors once KD defected.

However, that doesn’t change the fact that they’re one of the best teams to watch in the NBA. In fact, adding another high-volume scorer, who’s also great from beyond the arc, has only reinforced that.

While people were convinced that Westbrook’s start would lead to him winning the MVP, just think of who the Thunder have faced up to this point. The Philadelphia 76ers, Phoenix Suns, and Los Angeles Lakers gave him a great chance to pad his stats. Their win over the Los Angeles Clippers was good, but the Warriors are far better than the Clippers, and this is the second night of a back-to-back.

It’s hard to imagine Westbrook playing like this when they meet again, especially when they’re in Oklhaoma City. But Durant’s performance has served as a reminder of which player won the MVP while in Oklahoma City.
