Kevin Durant provides exclamation point dunk against Thunder (Video)
Kevin Durant provided the exclamation point for the Golden State Warriors’ blowout of the Oklahoma City Thunder with a monster dunk to end the third quarter.
In a highly anticipated matchup between the Golden State Warriors and Oklahoma City Thunder that had been circled on NBA fans’ calendars for months, Kevin Durant absolutely dominated his old team.
Russell Westbrook has captured America’s hearts with his triple-double show as a solo act, and he earned extra brownie points for his pregame troll job of his former MVP teammate, but KD’s game did the talking Thursday night as the Dubs cruised to a double-digit lead over Durant’s former team.
In an emotional contest that quickly got out of hand, Durant had the most important game of his early tenure in the Bay Area, helping turn a 10-point deficit late in the first quarter into a massive 25-point halftime lead.
KD had 29 points at the break, swatted two of Westbrook’s shots away, made 10 of his 15 shots, drained five of his six three-pointers and had completely demoralized his old teammates. At the end of the third quarter, he provided the final exclamation point with a huge dunk just before the period ended.
That monster smash put the Dubs up 98-70 heading into the final frame. You could smell the blood in the water the moment the Warriors gave him the ball, and as soon as he split the two defenders out of the pick-and-roll, KD was cleared for takeoff.
Durant had 36 points on 14-of-21 shooting through three quarters, including an unbelievable 7-for-9 from three-point range.
Westbrook, on the other hand, had 20 points, 10 assists and six rebounds, but only shot 4-for-15 from the floor through his first three quarters.

With Stephen Curry and the rest of the Dubs finding KD over and over again for back-breaking three-pointers, it was a long night for Russ and any OKC fans hoping for revenge.
To be fair, the Thunder were playing on the second night of a back-to-back after defeating the Los Angeles Clippers Wednesday night, but there’s no question that in Part 1 of Russ vs. KD, Durant handily won.

Halfway through the fourth quarter, the Dubs enjoyed a 31-point advantage, which came with the knowledge that beating Durant’s old team would soon move them to 4-1 on the season.
