These five scenarios could turn the College Football Playoff into absolute chaos this season.

The first College Football Playoff ranking is out and the four teams in are hoping they can keep their spots. However, there is still a ton of time until the end of the season and things can change in an instant. That means that someone is likely to fall.

The margin for error is razor thin right now and all it takes is a few things happening for the College Football Playoff to turn into absolute chaos. With plenty of schools already having one loss and the four at the top having to be perfect the rest of the way, things can turn crazy in an absolute instant. Here are five things that could turn the College Football Playoff committee’s jobs into a nightmare.

5. Western Michigan goes undefeated

A non-power conference always gets representation into a New Year’s Six game. That school is likely to be Western Michigan. P.J. Fleck has done an excellent job and there is a very real chance they win their last three games and earn their spot in.

If there is to be real chaos in the College Football Playoff, Western Michigan going undefeated and two or more of the teams in the top four along with others below them losing just once would turn everything upside down. The Broncos have an easy schedule and the committee would have to turn to them only in a severe case of emergency. That emergency is if every team has one to two losses.
