FanDuel NBA Picks: 11/5 Top Plays
FanDuel NBA Picks: 11/5 Top Plays is a column that finds the players who are in the best situation to do well tonight based primarily off opportunity and match up. You’ll get an insight into the mind of a consistently profitable DFS player and give yourself the best chance at hitting it big on tonight’s slate!
NBA is finally back, and after the first couple weeks, my bankroll is very thankful for that. Basketball is the easiest fantasy sport to be consistently good at because of its predictable nature, which can make it either very frustrating or very enjoyable. Hopefully with the picks in this article, you’ll be one of those who enjoys it!
FanDuel has included the Timberwolves/Thunder game in their slate, so the games will start an hour earlier than normal. This is a fun 8 game slate with a lot of studs and enough value to get up to them. Let’s dig in!
FanDuel NBA Picks: Point Guards
Emmanuel Mudiay ($5,900): In his second NBA season, Emmanuel Mudiay has taken on a much bigger role in the Nuggets offense, but has generally struggled. Though he’s taken at least 17 shots in each of his last 3 games, he hasn’t shot better than 35% from the floor in either. This makes him a perfect candidate for regression tonight. Mudiay has still hit value each of his last 3 games because his assist, rebound and steal numbers are great. If he can get his shot to fall in a great matchup with Ish Smith and the Pistons, he has massive upside while his peripherals keep his floor high.

Sergio Rodriguez ($5,100): With Jerryd Bayless and Ben Simmons still sidelined, Rodriguez is the lead ballhandler for the Sixers. He’s outperformed expectations and has a nice role for DFS. He’s averaging more than 10 shot attempts per game, and his peripherals give him a high floor. Now, Philadelphia/Cleveland will almost certainly be a blowout, but don’t let that take you off Rodriguez. Even in blowouts this season, he’s played around 30 minutes in every game because of the lack of depth behind him.
Others I Like: Russell Westbrook, Chris Paul, Kyrie Irving, Elfrid Payton, Jeff Teague, Dennis Schroeder, Kris Dunn
FanDuel NBA Picks: Shooting Guard
James Harden ($11,700): Point Beard is taking over the league, and if you aren’t playing him consistently in daily fantasy, you’re probably losing money. Harden’s averaging a whopping 31.8 ppg, 7 rpg, and 12.4 apg this season. He has a ridiculous ceiling and floor, and is worth his price nearly every time he plays. That being said, tonight could be a rare chance to play him at low ownership. With other studs like LeBron, Demarcus Cousins and Giannis is great spots and Harden in a tough matchup against Atlanta, I don’t think many people will go up to Harden. Especially with a value play like Tomas Satoransky at SG, he should be around 10%, where I’ll take him all day.

Wiz of Awes
Evan Fournier ($6,000): “Never Google” has been one of my favorite targets so far this season for DFS. He’s played over 36 minutes in 4 of 5 games this year and has hit value in each of them. He’s also taken at least 15 shots in each of those games. Fournier is a multi-category producer, so he’ll also get points in the assist and rebound categories to boost his floor. Washington has been one of the league’s worst teams at defending wing players, so the match-up is perfect for Fournier.
Others I Like: Giannis Antetonkounmpo, Zach Lavine, Victor Oladipo, Kenatvious Caldwell-Pope, Tomas Satoransky
FanDuel NBA Picks: Small Forward
Marcus Morris ($6,100): A saying in daily fantasy basketball is minutes = production. While that isn’t always necessarily true, Marcus Morris is getting big minutes and it’s translating into fantasy production. He’s been shooting a lot and shooting well giving him 18 points per game so far. The game against Denver should be relatively uptempo, and those are the games Morris seems to really thrive in. For just $6,100, Morris provides a lot of upside that you need to be able to win tournaments.
Matt Barnes ($4,000): Rudy Gay is listed as doubtful against the Bucks tonight, making Barnes nearly a must-have. Last year we saw Barnes’s upside when he got minutes, as he is a capable scorer who has great peripheral stats. Gay has accounted for a lot of offensive production for the Kings this season, and a lot of that workload will likely land on Barnes. The Bucks have been very bad defending opposing wings this season, giving up the 22nd most fantasy points to small forwards this year. This game should be back and forth so expect Barnes to get a full complement of minutes.
Others I Like: LeBron James, Kawhi Leonard, Jimmy Butler, Aaron Gordon, Tony Snell
FanDuel NBA Picks: Power Forward
Taj Gibson ($5,700): Gibson is never the sexiest play, but for DFS it’s hard to find someone with more consistent production at a reasonable price. The Pacers have struggled to rebound the basketball over the last two seasons, and Gibson has done most of the rebounding for the Bulls. He’s played at least 25 minutes in every game this season, so playing time getting vultured by Nikola Mirotic isn’t a concern. He doesn’t have a great ceiling because of his limited role in the offense, but he’s nearly a lock for 20 fantasy points night in and night out.

Markieff Morris ($5,500): This may feel like chasing points after Morris’s outbreak last night against Atlanta, but Markieff is in another great spot tonight at a great price. John Wall is out, so the offensive load that he bears has to fall on someone. Bradley Beal and Tomas Satoransky will likely shoulder some of that load, but Markieff could become the main scoring weapon. He took 18 shots last night with Wall playing full time, so that’s a great indicator that he’ll be a main component of their offense tonight.
Others I Like: Paul Millsap, Kevin Love, Tobias Harris, Dario Saric
FanDuel NBA Picks: Center
Demarcus Cousins ($9,900): The Rudy Gay injury news has a big impact on Demarcus Cousins, because there’s now no one else to truly compete for the lead role in the Kings’ offense. We’ve seen in the past how dominant Boogie can be in any matchup, and he showed that the other night with 33 points, 7 boards and 4 assists. Even in that performance, his rebound numbers were low, so he has legitimate 70 fantasy point upside in tonight’s matchup vs. the Bucks. Jabari Parker, Miles Plumlee and Greg Monroe are hardly good enough defensively to stop a player as skilled as Cousins.
Jusuf Nurkic ($6,000): If you’re fading Boogie and looking to pay down at the center position, look no further than Jusuf Nurkic. With Andre Drummond underneath for Detroit, Nurkic is the perfect weapon to battle him with. He’s a tank underneath and will fight hard with Drummond. He should get minutes because of the matchup, so expect Nurkic to have a great game.
Others I Like: Karl Anthony-Towns, Dwight Howard, Andre Drummond, Nikola Vucevic
