John Ross embarrasses Cal secondary on 67-yard touchdown (Video)
Washington receiver John Ross made the entire Cal secondary miss as he went 67 yards for a touchdown
John Ross is going to be making plays on Sundays. The Washington Huskies wide receiver is one of the most prolific weapons in the country. That tends to be the case when you have reliable hands and sub-4.3 speed. However, he’s got more than just his ridiculous wheels in his arsenal, something that the entire Cal Golden Bears secondary can attest to after Saturday night.
With Cal trying to not let things get away from them early at home against the No. 5-ranked Huskies, Ross first got started by burning his coverage over the top. However, even the big arm of Jake Browning couldn’t keep pace with the wideout, thus causing him to slow down and let the Golden Bears defensive back catch up. Of course, that only set the stage for more embarrassment for the Cal defenders.
Ross first threw the man covering him off. The Washington star then proceeded to juke one defender before then juking two more and cutting to the outside. With space at his disposal to take the sideline, the speedy receiver wasn’t going to be caught as he completed the 67-yard play for six points:
Life comes at you fast—and so does John Ross.
You can call out Cal for taking some questionable angles on that play, sure. However, there’s no slight to Ross’ effort in doing that. He made that play happen with his speed and elusiveness from start to finish.

That touchdown put Washington ahead 21-6 on the road, firmly in command. However, Cal answered with a touchdown of their own on the ensuing drive. Needless to say, it looks like an electric shootout is brewing between two of the most prolific offenses in the country. Buckle in.
