The Minnesota Golden Gophers host the Purdue Boilermakers at TCF Bank Stadium Saturday in Week 10. Here’s how to watch this game online.
Minnesota has had a solid 6-2 season so far and is looking to add to their win total against a struggling Purdue team (3-5). One of the Gophers losses came against Penn State in OT, so they have proven they can hang with the class of the Big Ten. The Gophers issues are coming off rather than on the field with existing restraining orders in place against five of their players, and wide receiver Brian Smith dismissed from the team for disciplinary reasons.
On the other side of the contest, Purdue is experiencing some turmoil of their own, with the 2016 season in meltdown mode as the school is searching for a new head coach. One of the Boilermakers “highlights” occurred in their last game as they managed to stay close to Penn State, going into the second half tied at 17.
Arguably, this could be a trap game for Minnesota as they look ahead to much tougher match ups in November against Nebraska and Wisconsin. However, Purdue is not exactly built to give Minnesota issues, as they have had a miserable time stopping the run and has been inept at running the ball themselves, ranking 121 in the FBS. Both of these facets of the game are among Minnesota’s strengths. The Gophers are built for the ground and pound run game and will look to use this home game as a confidence-booster.
