Patrick Peterson and Tyrann Mathieu decided to pay their alma mater a visit before their biggest game of the season.
No. 13 LSU is set to face No. 1 Alabama in an always compelling SEC West rivalry clash. The Tigers are looking to beat the Crimson Tide for the first time since 2011. That matchup featured the Tigers being ranked No. 1 with the Crimson Tide being No. 2. The Tigers prevailed, 9-6, in an overtime defensive struggle before Alabama won their rematch in the national championship.
The Tigers decided to use good luck charms before their game. Former LSU stars and current Arizona Cardinals Pro Bowlers Tyrann Mathieu and Patrick Peterson showed up as honorary captains. The Honey Badger could be seen wearing his old LSU jersey while the elite cornerback was wearing an LSU T-shirt.

LSU endured a disappointing start with losses to No. 8 Wisconsin and No. 9 Auburn. However, their strength of schedule has enabled them to stay in the top 15. An upset win against Alabama would certainly boost them into the top 10.

Peterson has established himself as one of the top cornerbacks in the NFL since being drafted fifth overall by the Cardinals. The Cardinals selected Peterson in the 2011 draft. Mathieu eventually reunited with Peterson in 2013 after being taken in the third round. The former Heisman Trophy finalist has cemented himself as one of the best safeties in the league. The former LSU teammates have combined to form one of the most dangerous secondaries, giving the Cardinals one of the top defenses in the NFL.
This enabled the Cardinals to finish with a 13-3 record in the 2015 season before reaching the NFC Championship. They fell to the 15-1 Carolina Panthers, and they have since endured a slow start in 2016. However, the Cardinals have a young core on defense that is sure to scare opposing teams for years to come.
