Tommy Armstrong took a nasty fall on a hit on the sideline during Nebraska’s game with Ohio State on Saturday night in Columbus. But, it appears he’s going to be OK, which is awesome.

The scariest thing to see at a football game: An ambulance making its way towards the field with the crew getting a stretcher ready for a player. Unfortunately for Tommy Armstrong and Nebraska on Saturday night, that’s what happened against the Ohio State Buckeyes in the second quarter.

Armstrong’s head hit the turf hard on the sideline during a run in Columbus and he stayed on the ground for a lengthy period of time. The stretcher came out for Armstrong and they loaded him in the back of an ambulance with his father, Tommy Sr., watching on.

But, Armstrong Jr. appeared to be OK, per the “thumbs up” he shot the crew and the Ohio Stadium crowd. Tommy Sr.’s reaction to his son being OK and to the crowd, who showed nothing but respect towards the Armstrongs, was pretty great.

Not long after Armstrong was on his way to the hospital, official word came down from the Cornhuskers about his status:

It’s never a good thing when a player gets stretchered away, but it’s a wonderful thing knowing that they’re going to be just fine. Armstrong getting knocked completely unconscious is extremely scary, but the fact that he’s moving all his extremities and talking is a fantastic sign moving forward.

Hopefully, the process of Armstrong going to the hospital goes smoothly for him, his father, the rest of his family and for the Nebraska community. Armstrong’s been a part of the Cornhusker program for years and he’s beloved among the entire Big Red fan base.

As for the game itself, it’s been all Ohio State. The Buckeyes lead it big in the second quarter, 24-3.
