Cincinnati head coach Tommy Tuberville didn’t seem to enjoy what this fan had said to him.

Tommy Tuberville has bounced around coaching jobs over the past decade. He had a 10-year run with Auburn from 1999-2008, but resigned, took a year off and joined Texas Tech. After just three years there, he resigned and took off for more money at Cincinnati and has been there since 2013.

After three seasons going 9-4, 9-4, and 7-6, Tuberville is in potentially his worst year with the Bearcats. He came into Saturday at 4-4, losing four of the past six games.

Well, his team would suffer potentially their worst loss of the season as BYU beat them, 20-3. Those three points came in the first quarter, leading to the Cougars shutting them out for the rest of the game.

Afterward, as Tuberville walked to the locker room, he started going back and forth with a fan in the stands. Clearly frustrated with the fan and loss, the 62-year-old said, “go to hell” and “get a job”.

It has been one of those years for Tuberville, who now sports a 4-5 record. He hasn’t received much from often-injured quarterback Gunner Kiel, and his team has scored more than 20 points just twice in the past seven weeks.

This directionless year could put Tuberville on the hot seat, especially with the decline in record each of the past three years. There’s always a chance he can salvage the season with two more wins and a bowl game, but that seems unlikely with how this team has fared.

Next on Cincinnati’s schedule is 5-4 UCF on the road. It’s a game Tommy Tuberville needs to keep his 2016 season alive.
