How do the Big 12 power ranking shape up after 10 weeks of play?

The Big 12 conference has remained one of the most exciting ones in college football. It’s full of shootout games every Saturday, some of which have even been setting records (see Pat Mahomes vs Oklahoma). Surprises have taken place over the past few weeks too, which have shaken up the conference.

In Week 10, Baylor went down for a second consecutive week and probably ruined their chances at the conference championship. This has led to teams like Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and West Virginia separating from the pack as the favorites to win the Big 12.

Following this slate of games, our power rankings have been shaken up again. Who stands at No. 1?

Throughout the 2016 season, Kansas hasn’t really changed or showed any signs of being competitive. They continue to get blown out by nearly every team, including losing to West Virginia last Saturday, 48-21. This is coming off a week where they lost to Oklahoma, 56-3.

On the bright side, freshman quarterback Carter Stanley showed upside. He went 9 for 11 for 127 yards and two touchdowns against WVU. With Montell Cozart’s poor play throughout the season, why not roll with Stanley for the last three games?

Luckily for Kansas, they will play fellow 1-8 team Iowa State this weekend. This is pretty much a battle to determine which school finishes at the bottom of the Big 12, as neither are likely to win their games beyond this one.

2016 has been a rough one for head coach David Beaty. He has a ways to go with this team, and if he doesn’t win next week, it would likely make it just one victory in two seasons for him. Ouch.
