30. Just when it appeared that Todd Bowles team was getting its act together, they traveled to South Florida and came up short against the revitalized Dolphins. The NFL’s top-ranked rushing defense couldn’t slow down red-hot running back Jay Ajayi, who ran for 111 yards and a score against a New York team that has allowed only 74 yards per contest on the ground in its first eight outings. Meanwhile, it was another rocky outing by quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, who left the game briefly due to injury but struggled all day. He threw for 193 yards and a score. But he was sacked three times and served up a pair of interceptions.
Next Week: The Jets welcome the 3-5 Los Angeles Rams to MetLife Stadium next Sunday. Jeff Fisher’s club is in the midst of a four-game losing streak following three straight wins. The Rams have really struggled as of late to reach the end zone, held to 10 points in consecutive losses to the Giants and Panthers. The Los Angeles offense has produced only 13 touchdowns in nine games.

Playoff hopes: The loss to the Dolphins means that as of Sunday night, the Jets are the only team in the AFC East with a losing record (4-4 Buffalo plays at Seattle on Monday night). Bowles’ club has now dropped six games, as many as all of last season. And this perplexing club has a lot of work to do just to get back to the .500 mark.
. 3-6. Previous: . New York Jets. 26. team
