Kyle Hicks put on quite a performance on Saturday for a player who could have easily sat out the Horned Frogs’ victory against Baylor. Hicks did not practice all week in preparation for the team’s road battle against the 13th-ranked Bears, but based on his effort, you would have never guessed it. The redshirt junior ran for nearly 200 yards against Baylor, leading TCU to a shocking 62-22 victory.

Hicks ran the ball 26 times against Baylor, racking up 192 yards and five touchdowns. His five touchdowns were good for second all-time in school history in a single-game, behind former TCU star LaDainian Tomlinson, who had six back in 1999. Battling an ankle injury that kept him out of practice all week, Hicks scored three touchdowns in the pivotal second quarter, as the Horned Frogs put the game away early.

The 5-foot-10 Hicks ran his touchdown total to 12 on the season, and his 192 yards gave him four 100-plus yard efforts this season. After rushing for over 100 yards against Kansas and West Virginia earlier in the month, Hicks had only four carries last week against Texas Tech, as he was injured early in the game. He rebounded in a big way on Saturday, leading the Horned Frogs to their most impressive victory of the season.
