High Value SF

Andrew Wiggins-Minnesota Timberwolves (5,900): Wiggins has a ton of upside for a player under 6K as he reminded everyone last night by going off for 36 points and 46.6 fantasy points agains the Nets. His big night wasn’t enough for Minnesota who slid to 1-5 on the year and now has to complete their back-to-back tonight in Orlando. The Magic should be a matchup that Wiggins can stay hot against. However, he is volatile as his last two games totals indicate (13.1 fantasy points and 46.6 fantasy points). When his shot is dropping he can be great, but he also has struggled and is coming off playing a massive 41 minutes last night in Brooklyn.

Marcus Morris-Detroit Pistons (5,800): In the midrange at SF, there are a couple of interesting possible #RevengeGame options to keep an eye on. The first is Marcus Morris who had a less-than-amicable parting from the Suns before last year when he found a good fit in Detroit. He faced his former team twice last season and averaged 22 points and ten rebounds against them.  While he hasn’t been quite at that level of production this season he does have at least 29 fantasy points in four of his seven contests and is a solid option who should be motivated to explode tonight after the Pistons stunk against the Clippers on Monday. ∗∗∗∗

Harrison Barnes-Dallas Mavericks (5,700):  The other player returning to face their former team is Harrison Barnes who left the Warriors this past offseason and signed a big contract with the Mavs. Barnes has had to carry a very heavy workload the last few games for Dallas with both Dirk Nowitzki and Deron Williams sidelined. He played 48 minutes on Sunday and had 34 points against the Bucks for a total of 49.6 fantasy points. Last night, he played 40 more minutes scoring 31 points to get to 35.4 fantasy points. While playing his old team should bring out the best in him, the major minutes could also catch up with him on the second night of a back-to-back against the running Warriors. While I like Barnes a lot going forward, I do think he’s risky in tonight’s matchup.

Maurice Harkless-Portland Trail Blazers (4,400): The Blazers lost Al-Farouq Aminu last night to a strained calf, and it looks like there is a real possibility he will miss tonight’s game against the Clippers. Whether Aminu plays or not, Moe Harkless’s minutes should be safe given his recent production. Harkless had 20 points and 29.7 fantasy points last night against the Suns and now has at least 24 fantasy points in three of his last four games. Earlier this year, he played 32 minutes against tonight’s opponent, the Clippers, and had a season-high 23 points and eight rebounds for 35.6 fantasy points. Between Aminu’s absence and the Blazers probably trying to go small, Harkless is a great bargain tonight. ∗∗∗

Rondae Hollis-Jefferson-Brooklyn Nets (3,900): If you’re going even cheaper at SF, Hollis-Jefferson has some upside to check out for the Nets as they take on the Knicks. RHJ has scored in double-digits in heat of the Nets’ last two contests and has at least 15 fantasy points in each of his last three. I like Harkless much better, but if you are spending under 4K, Hollis-Jefferson has the most upside of the available options.
