Stan Van Gundy thinks voters should be ashamed of Donald Trump

Detroit Pistons head coach Stan Van Gundy ripped Donald Trump and those who voted for the president-elect and thinks they should be ashamed of themselves.
Today there was a quietness surrounding the Detroit Pistons, one that didn’t go unnoticed by head coach Stan Van Gundy. The Pistons latest game was a 32-point loss vs. the Los Angeles Clippers, which he thought was the source of the team’s attitude, but backup center Aron Baynes made sure Van Gundy knew that wasn’t it.
Last night’s election results definitely had everybody distracted today, including professional athletes. Unfortunately, the person you didn’t want to be President, sometimes ends up being President. Van Gundy compared last night’s emotions to the ones he felt when George W. Bush was elected, despite voting differently.
“I didn’t vote for George W. Bush, but he was a good, honorable man with whom I had political differences, so I didn’t vote for him,” Van Gundy said, via the Detroit Free Press. “I don’t care what anybody says, I’m sure they have good reasons for voting for Trump, but I don’t think anybody can deny this guy is openly and brazenly racist and misogynistic and ethnic-centric.”
His six-minute long rant about Trump’s supporters didn’t stop there. “I have daughters, three of them, our society has said ‘No, we think you should be second-class citizens,” said Van Gundy. “It’s embarrassing. I have been ashamed of a lot of things that have happened in this country, but I can’t say I’ve ever been ashamed of our country until today. Until today. We all have to find our way to move forward, but that was—and I’m not even trying to make a political statement. To me, that’s beyond politics.”
Where Van Gundy resides in Oakland County, Michigan, did vote Clinton, but the rest of the state, which is historically Democrat, failed to do so. Michigan was one of the many surprise states of the election.

Van Gundy continued to express his not being able to understand people voting for Trump, Latinos or people of color. He ended his rant by saying, “We should be ashamed with what we stand for as the United States today.”
When finally asked a question about basketball, Van Gundy responded “That’s it for me, I don’t have anything to say about basketball tonight.”
