DraftKings is making one very important change for the 2016-2017 season. For some strange reason, they gave up their only advantage over FanDuel for NBA games. DraftKings decided to lock ALL games when the contest starts just as FanDuel does.
The big difference now between FanDuel and DraftKings is the lineups. FanDuel has one more slot, but you are confined to two of every position except center, where you get one. On DraftKings, you get a starting five plus a G, F, and UTIL. This is still an advantage over FanDuel because we can play two centers even though the roster is smaller!

Best Bets:
Giannis Antetokounmpo ($9,700): If you plan on spending big somewhere tonight, this may be the place. Giannis had his worst game of the season against Dallas on Sunday, but the whole team scored just 75 points. He should get plenty of run against New Orleans, and should at least get close to 5x value.
Stephen Curry ($9,000): Curry has been at or near 5x value in each of his last three games. Just keep in mind that Golden State is in a second game of a back to back, so they may limit or sit some of their players. Dallas did last night, and thanks to DraftKings’ asinine new policy, anyone that started Andrew Bogut or J.J. Barea were left out in the cold because the lineups all locked at first tip. Be aware of that if playing Curry or his teammates.
Honorable Mention:
Emmanuel Mudiay ($6,300): Mudiay has scored 80.5 DraftKings points over his last two games, and gets a Golden State team that has been somewhat lax on defense so far this year. His scoring has picked up with Will Barton out. That trend should continue until Barton gets back.
Tim Frazier ($6,000): Frazier has got back on track after a couple of rough games earlier in the month. Milwaukee is not an easy opponent, especially with Giannis manning the point, but Frazier’s price is low enough that he still has a good chance at 5x value.
Dark Horse:
Jordan Clarkson ($5,000): The Kings defend the perimeter well, but Clarkson has thrived in his sixth man role so far. Clarkson has been over 26 DraftKings points in three of his last four games, making him a constant 5x value. I wouldn’t expect 6x against a solid Sacramento team, but he should be right around 5x.
My pick: Antetokounmpo(PG), Frazier(UTIL)
Best Bets:
Dwyane Wade ($6,500): Wade’s horrible game against the Pacers last week scared a lot of DFS players away, but he rebounded with a solid game against Orlando on Monday. He is getting plenty of shots along side Jimmy Butler, and should continue to hit 5x value with relative ease. Especially in his return to Miami. Wade could go off here.
Klay Thompson ($6,200): Thompson now has scored more than 20 points in each of his last two games. His shooing funk to open the season appears to be over. He is less of a risk to roll out there now, especially at this price.
Honorable Mention:
Lou Williams ($5,100): Nick Young may be the starter, but it is mostly in name only. Both Clarkson and Williams get good run at the guard slots. LouWill has averaged 27 DraftKings points per game this year, good for nearly 5.5x value.
Tyler Johnson ($4,900): Johnson has seen the most minutes off the bench for the Heat so far, and he has produced nicely. Johnson has 96 DraftKings points in his last three games. Johnson should be at or above 6x value against a sketchy Bulls perimeter.
Dark Horses:
E’Twaun Moore ($4,100): The struggles of Buddy Hield has led to Moore getting 30+ minutes per game. He is never going to be an elite DFS option, but Moore has still averaged 28 DraftKings points per game over his last three. He is a solid option right now.
Arron Afflalo ($3,300): Afflalo has put up 21 DraftKings points in each of his last two games, but good teams can shut him down like Milwaukee and Orlando did. The Lakers are not great on the outside, so Afflalo has a good shot at 6x value again.
My pick: Wade(SG), Johnson(G)
Best Bets:
Rudy Gay ($7,300): Ho-hum, Rudy Gay hit 40 DraftKings points again. After a couple of subpar outings for him, Gay hit 6x value against the Pelicans on Tuesday. He will flirt with that tonight against the slowly improving Lakers. I will take him over Kevin Durant because KD played a lot last night. He may rest tonight, especially if the game gets out of hand.
Jimmy Butler ($7,100): Butler torched the Hawks last night for a season-high 39 points. His DraftKings total was a cool 68.5 points thanks to six steals. This was by far Butler’s best performance of the season. What can he do for an encore against the Heat? That will likely depend on what Wade does.
Honorable Mention:
Danilo Gallinari ($6,100): Gallinari put up a season high 21 points in his last outing, but it was his all around stats that got DFS players excited. Gallinari is always a lock for nearly 20 points a game, but he usually wont do much else. However, tonight he gets a Warriors team that his somehow allowing the second most fantasy points to SF’s so far this year.
Dark Horses:
Tony Snell ($3,500): Snell struggled against Dallas, but so did the rest of the team. The thing to take away from the game is that he still played 35 minutes. As long as the minutes are there for Snell, he is a threat to put up a really good game.
Brandon Ingram ($3,300): Ingram’s minutes have quietly increased to around 25-28 per game. His production has gone up some as well. He wont take a whole lot of shots, but on a weak night at the SF position, he could be worth a dart throw against the Kings. Especially when it only takes 16.5 DraftKings points to reach 5x value.
My pick: Snell(SF)
Best Bet:
Draymond Green ($7,800): Green was remarkably consistent yet again last night, posting 42 DraftKings points. He has only been under 40 twice in eight games, and hasn’t gone lower than 35. That is still a pretty high floor. He has a limited ceiling with Durant there, but his defensive supremacy keeps him racking up DK points.
Honorable Mention:
Anthony Davis ($11,300): The Bucks have been tough inside, which makes this a bit of a tough recommendation, but you can’t ignore what Davis has done. He had a couple of down games after a great start, but he has been over 50 DraftKings points in each of his last three games. The bad news? He still has only hit 5x value once.
Julius Randle ($6,800): Randle is putting up solid numbers, but his price is the issue. He has only hit 5x value twice in the last seven games. The matchup with Cousins isn’t the greatest either.
Dark Horse:
Terrence Jones ($4,700): Jones is a huge risk because you never know how the minutes distribution will go on any given night between him, Omer Asik, and Dante Cunningham. Judging by the fact that the Bucks are an athletic team, this would seem to fit Jones’s skill set. If he can log 25 minutes, he will have no problems getting 5x value.
James Johnson ($3,000): Johnson has flown under the radar so far, but his is averaging 18.1 DraftKings points per game at the lowest price. That average has jumped up to 23.2 in the last three games. Luke Babbitt‘s struggles have led to the gate opening for Johnson. He doesn’t appear to be going back out anytime soon.
My pick: Green(PF), Johnson(F)
Best Bets:
DeMarcus Cousins ($10,300): Cousins only needs 51.5 DraftKings points for 5x value. That seems like chump change against the Lakers. Julius Randle is solid, but there is no way he can handle Cousins is he starts at power forward again. Of all the high priced players, Cousins is the most likely to come up big.
Hassan Whiteside ($8,500): Whiteside was hounded by the Thunder on Monday, leading to his worst game of the season. He should bounce back quite nicely against a Bulls team that is really missing Joakim Noah in the middle. The Bulls have given up the third most fantasy points to centers so far this year.
Honorable Mention:
Greg Monroe ($5,800): Trying to predict the Bucks’ rotation is like trying to predict the weather six months from now. You can study the patterns and use all of the data afforded to you, but you could still wind up being way off. Therein lies the risk of playing any Buck but Giannis. However, Monroe has been a beast on the second unit, topping 30 DraftKings points in three of his last four games. The one he didn’t? He ended up with 16.25 in 14 minutes. Good luck!
Dark Horses:
Omer Asik ($3,000): Asik only needs 15 DraftKings points for 5x value so he has hit that benchmark in each of the last six games. That is despite him playing only 14 minutes against Golden State on Monday. His rebounding prowess will keep him at 5x value, but his offensive ineptitude keeps him from being a truly great sleeper pick.
My pick: Whiteside(C)
