23. Carlos Gomez, OF
Carlos Gomez was an absolute disaster for the Houston Astros after they acquired him at the 2015 trade deadline. In 126 games with the ‘Stros, Gomez slashed .221/.277/.342 with only nine home runs. His defense also suffered in center field.
Things were so bad for Gomez in Houston that the Astros completely gave up on him and released him in August. He was able to latch on with the Texas Rangers and hit a respectable .284/.362/.543 with eight home runs in only 33 games. The return of the power is the most important thing for Gomez going forward.
Gomez will be 31 at the start of the 2017 season and still has a chance to capitalize on the talent that made him a two-time All-Star in Milwaukee.
