The No. 3 Michigan Wolverines were the fifth Top 10 team to fall in Week 11. What could the College Football Playoff rankings possibly look like after this?

November 12th was the day that the college football world burned. Five teams ranked in the Top 10 of the College Football Playoff rankings lost. The No. 3 Michigan Wolverines became the fifth team to lose on Saturday, falling in Iowa City to the Iowa Hawkeyes on a game-winning field goal.

No. 2 Clemson, No. 3 Michigan, No. 4 Washington, No. 8 Texas A&M, and No. 9 Auburn all fell on Saturday. Here is just a guess at what the Top 10 of the College Football Playoff rankings could look like on Tuesday. Who knows what the Selection Committee is going to do this week? Chaos is in charge this week.

  1. Alabama Crimson Tide
  2. Ohio State Buckeyes
  3. Clemson Tigers
  4. Michigan Wolverines
  5. Louisville Cardinals
  6. Washington Huskies
  7. Wisconsin Badgers
  8. Penn State Nittany Lions
  9. Oklahoma Sooners
  10. Colorado Buffaloes

Alabama is one of two remaining undefeated teams left in Division I football and the only one in the Power 5. The Crimson Tide are the easiest choice to stay at No. 1. Moving up all the way to No. 2 has to be Ohio State, who blew out the division rival Maryland Terrapins on Saturday afternoon.

Clemson may have lost to the Pittsburgh Panthers on a last-second field goal, but only drop from No. 2 to No. 3 this week. Michigan goes from No. 3 to No. 4 after losing on the road to Iowa.

Coming in at No. 5 would be Louisville, who overcame a late-game deficit to beat the Wake Forest Demon Deacons at home. One could argue that Louisville could crack the top four in Week 12. They are very close to being in the Playoff as an at-large team.

No. 6 would go to Washington after being beaten easily at home to the USC Trojans. The No. 7 team would be Wisconsin, who are the best two-loss team in the nation. The Badgers crushed the Illinois Fighting Illini in Week 11.

No. 8 would be Penn State who outlasted the Indiana Hoosiers on Saturday afternoon. The Nittany Lions have a pretty solid shot to make the Playoff after the Michigan loss to Iowa. If Ohio State beats Michigan, the Nittany Lions win the Big Ten East assuming they win out.

The No. 9 team would have to be Oklahoma. The Sooners don’t have a loss in conference play this season. If the Sooners go 9-0 in Big 12 play, they might end up with that No. 4 seed. That’s how crazy Saturday was in the Power 5. Rounding out the Top 10 would be Colorado, assuming the Buffaloes hold off the Arizona Wildcats.
