Stock Down: Nate Holley, S, Kent State

Two years ago we saw La’el Collins go undrafted despite being cleared of any wrongdoing in relation to the death of his ex-girlfriend. Last year it was Laremy Tunsil who had a video of him allegedly smoking a bong through a gas mask. Now it looks like Kent State star safety Nate Holley may never reach the next level.

Holley led the country in solo tackles (80), and was third in total tackles this season with 111. A two-time First-Team All-MAC safety, Holley’s future in football is on an indefinite pause. Nate’s twin brother Nick is the starting quarterback for Kent State.

Holley was arrested and suspended from the football team indefinitely this week after being charged with first-degree kidnapping.  Reports allege that Holley had a confrontation with an ex-girlfriend, and allegedly took her somewhere by force and refused to let her leave.

He was released from jail on bond and placed in a “chemical dependency treatment” facility, alluding to additional issues facing the star safety.

Even if Nate Holley is acquitted of the alleged kidnapping charges, getting an opportunity to play at any level will be a major struggle. No team, whether it be in the NFL, CFL, or Arena League will be willing to take on someone with that history.
