Purdue is hanging with Villanova at the half on Monday and this P.J. Thompson shot certainly helped
As the college basketball season continues to get underway here in the 2016-17 season, we get a pretty good matchup on Monday night between the Purdue Boilermakers and the defending national champion Villanova Wildcats. And so far, this game has not been short of drama, and you can especially thank P.J. Thompson for that.
Coming down to the end of the first half of this one, Villanova was up 39-36 and it looked that Purdue was gonna go into the half down to the No. 3 team in the country. However, Thompson would be having none of that.
With the clock winding down, Thompson drained this amazing buzzer beater from half-court to tie things up going into the break.
Now those are the shots that you need sometimes when you’re looking to take down one of the best teams that the country has to offer, especially when you’re facing a team that won it all the year prior.
Thompson finished the half with only six points, but three of those six points could end up being some of the more important points that he will ever score in his college career. If Purdue ends up pulling off the upset in a close one, then we might be able to look back at that shot as being one of the more crucial ones this season.
