On Tuesday, ESPN’s annual college basketball marathon will take place. This has become the unofficial kickoff for the season for years and provides some quality games all around the United States. The game to kick things off will be Gonzaga hosting San Diego State at the McCarthey Athletic Center in Spokane, WA.
San Diego State is coming off an opening night win over San Diego, 69-59. The Toreros kept things close in the first half, but the Aztecs took off with the lead afterward.
Jeremy Hemsley and Trey Kell had 48 of SDSU’s 69 points. They shot efficiently throughout the game and even chipped in on the glass. Coincidentally, every member of their starting lineup had four rebounds each, so every player is proving to be capable of crashing the boards.
No. 14 Gonzaga is coming off an opening night demolition of the Utah Valley Wolverines, 92-69. The game was never close as the Bulldogs controlled from the start of the evening.
With Domantas Sabonis and Kyle Wiltjer having left for the NBA, the Zags were in need of new faces to step up. They would get plenty of this from Washington transfer Nigel Williams-Goss, who had 14 points, eight rebounds, and six assists in his school debut. Center Przemek Karnowski had 14 points and seven rebounds as well.
