DraftKings NBA Picks for November 15

There are only five games in the main DraftKings tournament tonight. Our options are limited tonight, but we still have some high-priced options on the board.

More from DFS

DraftKings is making one very important change for the 2016-2017 season. For some strange reason, they gave up their only advantage over FanDuel for NBA games. DraftKings decided to lock ALL games when the contest starts just as FanDuel does. Trust me, this has burned me more than once in the early going so far. I’m sure it has you as well.

The big difference now between FanDuel and DraftKings is the lineups. FanDuel has one more slot, but you are confined to two of every position except center, where you get one. On DraftKings, you get a starting five plus a G, F, and UTIL. This is still an advantage over FanDuel because we can play two centers even though the roster is smaller!

Point Guards

Best Bets:

Kemba Walker ($7,900): Walker puts up some elite numbers against iffy defenses. The Timberwolves have allowed the fourth most fantasy points to opposing point guards this year. The presence of Rubio could help out some, but Walker still looks like a nice option for the price. He has been over 5x value in four of his last five games, and has not been lower than 33.5 DraftKings points on the year.

Kyrie Irving ($7,400): The Raptors have allowed the most fantasy points to opposing point guards so far this year. Just keep in mind that the rest of the defense has been under par as well, so unless Irving starts getting the larger share of shots, his value wont change a whole lot. Still, he has taken no fewer than 17 shots in a game this year. The opportunities are there.

Honorable Mention:

RIcky Rubio ($5,700): Rubio has picked up 61.5 DraftKings points in the two games since his return from an elbow injury. The Hornets are the third worst at allowing fantasy points to point guards, and Rubio’s propensity for steals and assists virtually assures that he will provide value even with his bricklaying from the floor.

Tyler Johnson ($5,400): Johnson has seen more minutes with Goran Dragic out. He racked up 32 DraftKings points last night against a solid Spurs team. He should be close to 6x value again tonight against the Hawks.

Dark Horse:

Jordan Clarkson ($5,000): Most DFS players aren’t looking for consistency at this price. They are looking for the most upside. While Clarkson wont get you much over 6x value, he has only dropped to 4x value once this year. He is about as reliable as you can get at this price.

My pick: Rubio(PG)

Shooting Guards

Best Bets:

C.J. McCollum ($7,500): The Bulls have not defended well on the perimeter with the move of Butler to SF. McCollum has hit more than 50 DraftKings points three times in his last five games. However, he has been under 20 in two of the last six. His inconsistency makes him tough to use, but he has a great matchup on paper tonight.

Sean Kilpatrick ($5,800): Nemanja Bjelica torched the Lakers on Sunday from the SG slot starting in place of Zach LaVine. Kilpatrick should be able to get plenty of good looks against the Lakers as well. He has averaged 5x value on the season, so don’t be shy about using Kilpatrick here.

Honorable Mention:

DeMar DeRozan ($8,800): DeRozan has been on fire lately. He averaged 50.7 DraftKings points per game last week and shot over 50% from the field. So why isn’t he a must play? The Cavs have allowed the least fantasy points in the league to opposing shooing guards. Smith and Shumpert are both very good defenders. How many shots will DeMar make with a hand in his grill every time? My guess is not enough to make value at this price.

Nicolas Batum ($6,800): Batum has gone over 40 DraftKings points in each of his last two games, but the Timberwolves have allowed the fewest fantasy points to opposing SF’s so far this year. However, if Kidd-Gilchrist returns to the lineup, that should push Batum to the SG slot where the Timberwolves are still tough. I would much rather deal with the third fewest than the fewest though.

Dark Horse:

Josh Richardson ($4,800): Richardson has gotten more run lately with the injury to Dragic, but that doesn’t always mean more results. He has more upside than anyone else in Miami’s backcourt, but he also has a much lower floor.

Dion Waiters ($4,200): Waiters is purely a shooter, so if his shots aren’t falling, your lineup is toast. Now the good news. The Hawks are 23rd in the league in points allowed to shooting guards, and Waiters dropped 27 points on the Spurs last night. If he can do it to the Spurs, doing it to the Hawks may not be much of a stretch.

Iman Shumpert ($3,900): Shumpert isn’t much of a scorer, but given more run on Sunday with J.R. Smith nursing an ankle sprain, Shumpert scored 15 points along with his normal solid defensive stats. If Smith sits again, Shumpert could be a great value at this price. Just make sure to check on Smith’s status first, or he likely wont have a high ceiling.

My pick: Kilpatrick(G)

Small Forwards

Best Bets:

LeBron James ($10,300): So what if he hasn’t hit 60 DraftKings points in a game yet? The King still averages 5x value. That means he has virtually no chance of being a bust, and he is a sure 50 points. The Raptors don’t defend well at any position, so James has a great chance at hitting that elusive 60 point barrier tonight.

Andrew Wiggins ($7,000): Wiggins scored a career-high 47 points against the Lakers on Sunday. It was the second time he has topped 50 DraftKings points in six days. Wiggins is on fire right now, and is starting what looks like a breakout season. He could be a tremendous value at this price.

Honorable Mention:

Jimmy Butler ($8,000): Butler has topped 66 DraftKings points twice in his last three games. LeBron who? Seriously though, Butler is assaulting opposing defenses while Wade has been ice cold from the floor. Portland defends pretty well, but I have my doubts as to whether they can hold Butler under 40. He should get you value at the very least.

Justise Winslow ($5,500): Winslow is mostly a scorer, but with Dragic out, he has distributed the ball a little more. Still, his value mostly lies in his scoring ability, which means he can have an off night at any time. At least he is cheap enough that it wont destroy your roster if you choose wisely elsewhere.

Dark Horse:

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist ($4,900): So what if Wiggins locks down everything at SF? MKG’s value lies in his outstanding rebounding ability and his above average blocks and steals totals at the position. He doesn’t rely on points for his DraftKings value, making him a very low risk option.

James Johnson ($3,700): Johnson has outplayed both Luke Babbitt and Derrick Williams lately. It has led to more minutes a couple of times, but the only thing clear in the Heat rotation now is that Babbitt is out of it. That means more opportunities for Johnson, who has only been under 5x value once in his last six games. He is a sneaky option on the cheap.

My pick: James(SF), Wiggins(UTIL), Butler(SG), Kidd-Gilchrist(F)

Power Forwards

Best Bets:

Julius Randle ($6,600): The Nets have been abused on the inside, particularly by power forward. They are fifth worst in the league at fantasy points allowed to that position. Randle isn’t yet a really consistent option, but he has proven that he can do more than just score. He shouldn’t have a problem doing whatever he wants to the Nets.

Trevor Booker ($5,900): Booker’s price keeps rising, but so does his production. He had a clunker against Blake Griffin and the Clippers last night, but that should come as no surprise. Pretty much the whole team did. Prior to that, Booker had topped 35 DraftKings points in three of his last four games. He is a strong bet to get close to that against the Lakers.

Honorable Mention:

Kevin Love ($7,800): Is Kevin Love matchup-proof? That is the question that has been asked the most since he left Minnesota. This year, Love has been under 35 DraftKings points just once, It was a cold shooting night against Orlando. His guaranteed double-double is always a safe option, even against a Toronto team that has managed to defend this position well. The only one they do.

Dark Horses:

Nemanja Bjelica ($3,800): This only applies if Zach LaVine sits again. Bjelica racked up 48.5 DraftKings points in his first career start. That outstanding performance should at least allow him some more bench minutes. However, if he fails to start, the risk is much higher.

Meyers Leonard ($3,600): Noah Vonleh was less than impressive trying to fill in for Al-Farouq Aminu. Leonard answered the call, putting up 59 DraftKings points in his three starts. He is a consistent 6x value while Aminu is out.

My pick: Leonard(PF)

Center

Best Bets:

Karl-Anthony Towns ($8,200): Towns has been consistently outstanding since a slow start. Over his last six games, Towns is averaging 45.7 DraftKings points per game. That is good for 5.5x value on average!

Dwight Howard ($7,200): Even with the presence of Whiteside on the inside, the Heat have given up the sixth most fantasy points to centers this year. Some of that has to do with Whiteside getting in foul trouble. Howard has been a consistent force this year, much like he was in Orlando several years ago. His production is lower than it was then, but he is still a constant threat for 45 DraftKings points.

Honorable Mention:

Hassan Whiteside ($8,300): Many DFS players who watched Whiteside destroy the Spurs on the inside will be tempted to use him again tonight. Don’t be one of those. The Spurs are among the worst teams on the interior, and the Hawks are one of the best. It is going to be very difficult for Whiteside to reach 5x value tonight.

Brook Lopez ($6,100): Lopez should be well rested for a middle-of-the-road Lakers team that was mostly dominated by Towns on Sunday. Lopez should have no problems reaching 5x value for the fourth straight game and fifth of the last six. He has come on nicely after a slow start.

Dark Horse:

Tristan Thompson ($4,700): Thompson is little-used on offense, but he posted a double-double and 30.5 DraftKings points against the Raptors in the first meeting between these two teams. He should be a great value again tonight.

My pick: Thompson
