Suffering its first loss of the 2016 season, Clemson has gone from No. 2 overall in the playoff rankings to No. 4. Losing to Pittsburgh at home was a tough blow, but the Tigers still control their own destiny and must win out.
Deshaun Watson passed for nearly 600 yards and three touchdowns in the loss, but his three interceptions were crucial. He needs to cut down on turnovers moving forward. On the year, he has 3,077 yards and 27 touchdowns with 13 picks.
While Watson’s numbers might be a little down from last year, he still is one of the top Heisman contenders in the country. He couldn’t have gotten to that point without Mike Williams. The stud wide out has caught 67 passes for 956 yards and six scores.
Wake Forest has already exceeded expectations this season and is no longer considered an easy win in ACC play. The Demon Deacons are bowl eligible, but could use a big win over Clemson to really make their season even more memorable.
Junior quarterback John Wolford has had kind of a down season. His numbers are on track to be the worst in his three-year career and his five touchdowns to seven interceptions are not ideal. However, he has been the ultimate game manager this season.
The Wake Forest offense really hasn’t done much this season and the Demon Deacons may rely more on the medial run game Saturday. Matt Colburn, Wolford and Cade Carney each have over 400 yards rushing this season.
