Dede Westbrook continued his ridiculous season in the snow on Saturday night against West Virginia with a long catch-and-run for a touchdown.
Dede Westbrook is a bad man.
Westbrook has been the most explosive wide receiver in college football this season, and he proved it once again on Saturday night in the snow against West Virginia.
After hauling in a pass from Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield, Westbrook fought off the Mountaineer secondary and ran 75 yards for the second score of the night for the Sooners.
Yeah, he’s good. Really good.
That 75-yard touchdown was the 11th (!) for Westbrook of longer than 40 yards this season. He would later catch another pass from Mayfield on their next drive, so basically, he has 100 yards receiving on the night in the first quarter … on two catches.
Is that good? That seems good.
The Sooners have been dominated the Mountaineers in the early going on Saturday night, jumping out to a three-touchdown lead in the first quarter partly thanks to Westbrook’s play.
For the Sooners, a win in Morgantown keeps them in the drivers seat for the Big XII title and another appearance in the College Football Playoff.
With these long connections, it wouldn’t be surprising if Westbrook (and Mayfield too for that matter) find themselves in the Heisman Trophy race. The duo has been one of the best 1-2 punches in the country this season.
West Virginia doesn’t have a signature win this season, which means the 21-0 deficit they’re facing could signal the end of any chance they had of potentially fight for a playoff spot at season’s end.

There’s a ton of ballgame left in Morgantown, but this one could be over soon if the Mountaineers can’t find an answer for Westbrook.
