Sunderland face Hull at the Stadium of Light on Saturday, Nov. 19. Here’s all the info you need to watch.
In their last match before the international break, Sunderland finally, mercifully won their first match of the season in their 11th attempt. That win, a narrow 2-1 against Bournemouth, left the Black Cats on five points. They’re still bottom of the league, but have narrowed the gap to safety to a not-great-but-not-insurmountable six points. Jermain Defoe remains the key man in attack for David Moyes’ side, but you get the sense if they’re going to avoid the drop, they’ll need to shore up at the back, especially late in games.

Hull also entered the international break with a much needed win, at home against Southampton. That was the Tigers’ first win since the second game of the season back in August, and left them only a point away from safety. Mike Phelan still has a lot of work to do having secured the full-time managers position, but he does at least have some talent to work with. Like Sunderland, the big concern lies at the back. After a surprisingly solid start to the season, in which they conceded only three goals in their first four games, Hull have conceded 21 in the seven games since.

This is a game Hull will probably be expecting to win, but Sunderland really can’t afford to lose. It’s unlikely to be pretty, but this is as big a game as they come this early in the season.
