The Jacksonville Jaguars have been a massive disappointment this season, while the Detroit Lions have stunned everyone by leading the NFC North.

Jacksonville was supposed to be good this season. Remember that? The Jaguars went out and signed Chris Ivory, Malik Jackson, Prince Amukamara and a host of other talented players to come in and save head coach Gus Bradley’s job.

Instead, the Jaguars are 2-7 and Blake Bortles has regressed to the point that he reminds you of an old Ryan Leaf. It has been ugly to say the least, and now the Jaguars have to travel to Ford Field to take on the Detroit Lions, who are shocking in a different way.

After losing Calvin Johnson to retirement, many assumed it would be the end of the line for this group. Instead, Matthew Stafford has stepped up, hitting Marvin Jones and Golden Tate time and again. While the running game is a questionmark, the defense has done just enough without Darius Slay and DeAndre Levy, two of the league’s better defenders.

Should the Lions do the expected and win at home against the woeful Jaguars, they will be 60-4 and remain atop the NFC North. If the playoffs started today, the Lions would be the fourth seed in the NFC playoffs, looking for their first postseason win since 1991.
