Rick and Morty, Quentin Tarantino among latest Fandom 250 nominees

The latest nominees in the FanSided Fandom 250 include Power Five football programs and a side of Royale with Cheese.

All month long, FanSided is trying to find the most passionate and loyal fanbase in existence. This consists of narrowing the millions of fandoms in the world down to a prestigious 250. Throughout November, the nominees for the Fandom 250 will be announced 10 at a time, with the final list coming out on December 6th.

In the latest round of nominees, college football begins to make its mark as does the world of behind-the-scenes Hollywood. Next to the NFL, there might not be a sport in America that is ab better draw than college football. Fans are born into the life, and families are eternally attached to programs they were a part of, sometimes for generations. Of the five major conferences, the SEC stands supreme. Texas A&M has the honor of being a school from the biggest football state in the country as well as playing in the best conference in college. Don’t thumb your nose at the fandom of Michigan State, Kansas or Clemson as fans of those schools have stuck with the programs through the highs and lows of the last twenty years.

As huge as college football is, sometimes you need to escape when your team breaks your heart. Thank goodness for the likes of television and the internet. Reddit has become the front page of the internet thanks to Redditors helping to set viral trends and let the world know what they should be talking about. A show like Rick and Morty, another nominee, is an excellent escape and fans of the show have helped bring awareness to one of the best late night comedies currently on the air. Like college football, fans are born into a love of these acts thanks to it being passed down like an heirloom. The same goes for cinematic affection, as no director has created a following like Quentin Tarantino or the Coen Brothers. Auteurs Wes Anderson and Joss Whedon have similarly left a mark on fans with their style that continues to grow passion for their work.
