It just keeps getting worse for the Jaguars, who will not post a winning season once again even if the team runs the table. And for the second straight Sunday, quarterback Blake Bortles was picked off and saw the theft returned for a touchdown. Talk about wasting a solid defensive effort. Jacksonville sacked Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford three times. For the first time in six games, Gus Bradley’s struggling squad came up with a takeaway, recovering a pair of Detroit fumbles. And Jaguars defenders limited the Lions to a mere 14 yards rushing on 21 carries (do the math). And that still wasn’t enough to win on Sunday.
Next Week: Bradley’s disappointing club heads north for the second straight Sunday as they get ready to take on the 5-5 Bills at Orchard Park. The Jaguars have dropped five consecutive games and are a dismal 1-4 on the road this season. Good luck.

Playoff hopes: Unless a few teams in the AFC resign from the league, the Jaguars will likely miss the playoffs for the ninth consecutive year. This was a franchise that appeared to be headed in the right direction. But it’s been a frustrating season for a club that had very high expectations following a productive offseason.
. 2-8.
