It was a short week for Marvin Lewis’ struggling team as they prepared to host the Buffalo Bills. And once again, the team’s very disappointing defense proved to be the club’s eventual undoing. Cincinnati’s once-imposing front seven couldn’t prevent the Buffalo Bills and its numerous number of ball-carriers from totaling 183 yards on the ground courtesy of 34 carries. Minus standout wide receiver A.J. Green for the vast majority of the afternoon (hamstring), quarterback Andy Dalton threw for only 207 yards, fumbled once and was picked off twice. The slumping Bengals have now won just once in their last six outings (1-4-1) since splitting their first two games of the season.
Next Week: The Bengals continue their recent stretch of alternating away and home games by making the visit to Baltimore to face the 5-5 Ravens. Cincinnati has owned this series as of late, winning five straight meetings in this always-intense AFC North rivalry – including the last two years at Baltimore.

Playoff hopes: At 3-6-1, the defending AFC North champions are sliding badly. However, Lewis’ team plays four of its final six games against divisional foes, including home dates with the Steelers (Week 15) and Ravens (Week 17) in the final three weeks. But the Bengals need to get their act together on defense if they are truly to make a postseason run.
. 3-6-1. Previous: . Cincinnati Bengals. 24. team. 56
