Ryan Fitzpatrick will be back under center for Gang Green in Week 12.
Jets fans have already had enough of Ryan Fitzpatrick, but that didn’t stop head coach Todd Bowles from naming Fitzpatrick the starter for Thanksgiving weekend. After missing New York’s Week 10 matchup with Los Angeles due to a knee sprain, Fitz will be back in action when the Jets host rival New England Sunday.
Before a bye week Sunday, backup quarterback Bryce Petty was given a shot to prove himself against the Rams. A mediocre outing clearly was not enough for Bowles to keep Fitzpatrick on the bench. At this point, the Jets might as well pay the bandit who robbed them for $12 million this season.
With the Jets in the AFC East cellar at 3-7, this is a move that makes no sense. Fitzpatrick clearly is not your future at quarterback, so why not give Bryce Petty or even Christian Hackenberg an opportunity to prove themselves? This would be a way to find out what you currently have at the position. If the front office feels a franchise quarterback is still a need by the end of the season, then the Jets could look into drafting a top QB prospect. However, for whatever reason, the organization is sticking with a washed up journeyman.
Fitzpatrick currently leads the NFL with 13 interceptions. He has also managed to post a porous 56.4 completion percentage. Rock bottom came in Week 3, a game in which he threw six interceptions to the opposing Kansas City Chiefs.

For a guy who probably had his best year of his career a season ago, Fitzpatrick’s performance this year has been nothing short of a disaster. Rumors are already swirling about New York being a possible destination for Tony Romo, but we can be assured “FitzMagic” will not be returning to the Big Apple.
