Christian McCaffrey is back, and he made his presence felt on Saturday. The junior continues to shake off his midseason slump, and has led the Stanford Cardinal to four straight wins. In that span, McCaffrey has rushed for 787 yards and ten touchdowns, while putting his team in position to play in a decent bowl game this season.

On Saturday, McCaffrey broke his own school record by rushing for 284 yards against the California Golden Bears. That total shattered his previous mark of 243, and helped the Cardinal keep the coveted Axe in their rivalry game against Cal. He also set the record for most yards in the Big Game, breaking the record of 226 set by Cal’s Joe Igber back in 2002.

It has been quite a season for McCaffrey, who came into his junior year hoping to win a Heisman Trophy. Last season, it seemed like McCaffrey scored every time he got the ball, as he finished second in the Heisman balloting. After a rough part of his season, those hopes are gone, but he can put the Cardinal on his back and finish his collegiate career in style.
